Notes from the dye bath
We dye in limited batches on purpose. It is slower, less predictable, and the only way we know to get color this honest.
A color can begin as a reference, but the real shade only reveals itself when it meets fabric.
Inside the dye bath, color becomes physical. It absorbs differently. It deepens. It softens. Sometimes it shifts entirely.
That is why Udupp Color Lab doesn’t treat color as a digital value that can simply be copied onto a garment.
We test it on our fabric. We observe it under different light. We wash it. We compare it. We adjust it. And we repeat.
Because the shade you see on a screen, the shade under studio lighting and the shade you wear outside can feel like three different colors.
That difference matters.
